The Tarotorial Tarot Training Deck: Expanded Edition

The Tarotorial Tarot Training Deck: Expanded Edition, created by Pamela Coe, is an innovative tool specifically designed to make learning tarot accessible for beginners and neurodivergent individuals. Building on the original Tarotorial Deck, this expanded edition integrates visual and textual learning aids directly onto each card, eliminating the need to constantly refer to a separate guidebook during readings. This approach aims to reduce cognitive load and enhance the intuitive learning process.

Each card in the deck features a central, stylized illustration that captures the essence of the card's meaning, accompanied by concise keywords for both upright and reversed interpretations. Additionally, the cards include symbols for elemental associations, numerology, and astrological correspondences, providing multiple layers of information at a glance. This comprehensive on-card information supports a deeper understanding of tarot symbolism and facilitates a smoother learning curve for those new to the practice.

The deck's design prioritizes clarity and ease of use, making it suitable for self-study or guided practice. By presenting all essential information directly on the cards, the Tarotorial Training Deck encourages readers to engage with the meanings actively and build connections between the imagery and the interpretive text. This method fosters confidence and independence in reading, allowing users to progress from foundational knowledge to more nuanced interpretations over time.

The artwork on the Tarotorial Training Deck cards is characterized by a clean, modern digital illustration style with a vibrant, yet somewhat muted, color palette. Each card features a small, framed image that visually represents the card's core theme, such as a figure in a dark cloak for The Hermit or a golden chalice for the Ace of Cups. The illustrations are simplified and symbolic, avoiding excessive detail to maintain clarity and focus. The overall aesthetic is contemporary and approachable, designed to be visually engaging without being overwhelming, which aligns with its educational purpose. The cards themselves are predominantly white with black borders and text, ensuring high readability for the instructional elements.

This deck is ideal for absolute beginners to tarot, especially those who prefer a structured, guided learning experience. It is also particularly well-suited for neurodivergent individuals who benefit from clear, concise information presented directly on the cards, minimizing distractions and the need for external references. Readers who appreciate a modern, minimalist aesthetic combined with comprehensive on-card learning aids will find this deck highly effective.

The Tarotorial Tarot Training Deck is an illustrated follow-up to the original Tarotorial Deck, created by Pamela Coe. Her motivation behind developing this expanded edition was to provide a more accessible and intuitive learning experience for new tarot readers and those who identify as neurodivergent. The project successfully launched on Kickstarter in 2022, raising $55,920 from 854 backers, demonstrating a significant demand for her unique, educational approach to tarot.
