The Legend of Tarot - a Tarot deck for gamers

The Legend of Tarot is a 78-card divination deck designed to introduce the art of tarot reading to a gaming audience, specifically those familiar with a popular video game series known for its magic, puzzles, and mystery. Created by Noah and Alex Page, the deck integrates characters and visual cues from this game into each card's illustration, aiming to make the complex narratives of tarot more intuitive and relatable for newcomers.

The project originated from the creators' observation that the main characters of their favorite video game naturally aligned with the first three Major Arcana cards. This initial spark led to a six-month collaborative effort to develop a full 78-card deck, with Major Arcana featuring prominent characters and Minor Arcana depicting side characters. The deck was intended as a limited, one-time print run, emphasizing its collectible nature.

Each card measures 2.75" x 4.75" with rounded edges and features a consistent border design incorporating a triple triangle motif and a large circle around the central subject. The deck includes a "Little White Book" guidebook to assist readers in interpreting the cards and weaving narratives, reinforcing its goal of making tarot accessible and enjoyable for those new to the practice.

The artwork is described as a collaboration between Alex's sketchbook designs, which focus on period clothing and cultural context, and Noah's compositions, rendered in a "trademark cute style." The process involves Alex's initial sketches, Noah's digital composition and character drawing, and Alex's digital coloring. The cards feature a consistent border with a triple triangle motif and a large circle framing the subject. The style aims to use the visual language of video games to interpret tarot stories, with characters from a popular video game series integrated into the illustrations. The campaign text emphasizes a full-color presentation and detailed backgrounds.

This deck is ideal for video game enthusiasts, particularly fans of the specific fantasy series it draws inspiration from, who are curious about tarot but might find traditional decks intimidating. It caters to beginners seeking an accessible entry point into tarot, leveraging familiar characters and themes to simplify interpretation. Collectors interested in unique, pop-culture-inspired tarot decks will also find it appealing.

The Legend of Tarot was created by Noah and Alex Page, a collaborative duo driven by their shared love for a particular video game series and an interest in tarot. The project began when they noticed how well the game's main characters fit into the first Major Arcana cards. This realization spurred a six-month creative process to complete all 78 cards. Their collaborative artistic process involved Alex's research and sketching, followed by Noah's digital composition and coloring, ensuring a unified vision for the deck.
