The Lantern Guide Tarot Art Deck

The Lantern Guide Tarot Art Deck, created by artist Amy Brewer-Davenport, invites users into a fantastical forest setting through its unique artistic style. Launched successfully on Kickstarter in 2022, the deck is presented as a versatile tool, suitable for both traditional tarot readings and meditative practices. The campaign emphasizes the deck's connection to nature and an imaginative, dreamlike world.

The deck's imagery, as observed from the available art, leans heavily into abstract and textured forms, suggesting a departure from literal or highly structured tarot symbolism. This approach encourages intuitive interpretation, allowing readers to connect with the cards on a deeper, more personal level. The creator's background in painting landscapes and forest denizens directly informs the deck's thematic and aesthetic foundation, promising a cohesive and immersive experience within its envisioned world.

While specific details about the card count or guidebook are not explicitly stated in the main campaign text, the reward tiers confirm the product is a "Shiny New Tarot Deck," indicating a complete set. The emphasis on art and meditation suggests a deck that prioritizes aesthetic experience and personal reflection, making it appealing to those who value artistic expression and a less rigid approach to divination.

The artwork is highly abstract and textured, characterized by a rich, dark color palette dominated by deep blues, browns, and golds. The texture appears to be achieved through a mixed-media approach, possibly incorporating crumpled paper, fabric, or impasto techniques, creating a tactile, almost sculptural quality. Small, light-colored floral or star-like elements are scattered throughout, providing points of contrast against the darker background. The overall impression is organic and dreamlike, with forms that are suggestive rather than explicit, aligning with the "fantastical forest" theme. The style is distinctly non-traditional for tarot, favoring an expressive, fine-art approach.

This deck is ideal for experienced tarot readers who appreciate abstract art and are comfortable with intuitive interpretation, rather than relying on strict RWS symbolism. It also appeals to art collectors and individuals seeking a unique, visually stimulating deck for meditation or personal reflection. Readers interested in nature-themed or fantastical art with a dark, moody aesthetic will find this deck particularly engaging.
