The Joyseeker Tarot: Animals & Nature

The Joyseeker Tarot: Animals & Nature is a complete 78-card tarot deck that integrates the symbolism of animals, plants, and natural elements into the Rider-Waite-Smith framework. Created by Canadian artist Danielle Trudeau, the deck aims to bring the beauty of the natural world into the tarot reading experience. It successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2021, raising over $18,000 from 289 backers.

Each card features detailed illustrations of various creatures and botanical motifs, rendered in a distinctive purple and earthy tone palette. The deck includes both the 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana, with traditional titles maintained. The accompanying full-color guidebook provides interpretations for each card, making the deck accessible to both new and experienced tarot readers.

Printed on premium heavyweight card stock, the cards measure 2.75" x 4.75", a standard tarot size. The deck emphasizes a connection to nature and aims to provide a joyful and intuitive reading experience, aligning the wisdom of tarot with the inherent beauty and cycles of the natural world.

The artwork is digitally illustrated with a focus on realism and intricate detail for each animal and plant depicted. A striking feature is the monochromatic purple and earthy brown color palette, which gives the entire deck a cohesive and somewhat mystical feel. The animals, such as the lioness for The High Priestess and the tiger for Strength, are rendered with expressive faces and surrounded by delicate line art of botanical elements like pomegranates and flowers. Crystals, like the prominent one in the Seven of Wands, are also integrated, adding to the natural and spiritual theme. The white borders provide a clean frame for the detailed illustrations.

This deck is ideal for nature enthusiasts, animal lovers, and those seeking a tarot deck with a strong botanical and zoological theme. It suits both beginner and experienced readers who appreciate a consistent, aesthetically pleasing art style and a clear connection to the natural world. Readers looking for a gentle, intuitive approach to tarot, particularly those who resonate with a purple-toned aesthetic, will find this deck appealing.
