The Divine Arts Tarot Deck

The Divine Arts Tarot Deck, created by artist Hayley Kim, is a 78-card tarot deck that blends detailed grayscale illustrations with vibrant, watercolor-like backgrounds. The deck aims to provide an ethereal and intuitive experience, guiding users in their quest for divine insights and spiritual connection. Each card features human figures, often depicted with closed eyes or a serene expression, integrated with natural elements like flowers, leaves, and celestial bodies.

The artwork combines the precision of pencil or ink drawings for the figures with the fluid, expressive quality of digital watercolor for the backgrounds, creating a striking contrast. The campaign highlights the deck's mixed-media approach, which contributes to its unique aesthetic. The deck is designed to be both visually stimulating and spiritually resonant, offering a fresh interpretation of traditional tarot archetypes through its distinctive artistic style.

While the campaign story is brief, it emphasizes the creator's intention to craft a deck "from the soul," suggesting a deeply personal and intuitive approach to its development. The deck includes a booklet and comes in a box, indicating a complete package for readers. Its successful funding on Kickstarter in 2022, raising $11,248 from 168 backers, demonstrates a strong community interest in its unique artistic vision and spiritual focus.

The artwork for The Divine Arts Tarot Deck is characterized by its striking contrast between detailed grayscale figures and vibrant, often pastel-toned, watercolor-style backgrounds. The figures, which appear to be human, are rendered with fine lines and intricate shading, often adorned with delicate floral patterns, stars, or geometric symbols. Their expressions are typically serene or introspective, with eyes often closed or depicted as blank, suggesting an inner focus or connection to a higher state.

The backgrounds feature soft, blended washes of color—pinks, purples, blues, and greens—that create an ethereal and dreamy atmosphere. These colorful backdrops often include subtle glitter or starlight effects, enhancing the mystical feel. The combination of black-and-white figures with colorful backgrounds gives the deck a distinctive mixed-media appearance, as described in the campaign. White floral borders frame many of the cards, adding an elegant and cohesive touch.

This deck is ideal for tarot readers who appreciate a blend of detailed, illustrative art with a spiritual and ethereal aesthetic. It will appeal to those seeking a deck that encourages introspection and connection to the divine, particularly readers drawn to themes of nature, celestial bodies, and human spirituality. Its unique mixed-media style makes it suitable for collectors looking for visually distinctive decks, as well as intermediate to advanced readers who can interpret its nuanced imagery.
