The 78 - Tarot Deck #1

The 78 is a complete 78-card tarot deck created by Scotty Roberts, a fine artist, writer, and experienced tarot reader. The deck is fully illustrated using watercolor, aiming to provide a unique artistic interpretation of the traditional tarot system. It was designed to be a comprehensive tool for both seasoned practitioners and those new to tarot.

The deck includes all 78 standard tarot cards, encompassing the Major and Minor Arcana. Each deck comes with a companion guidebook to assist with interpretations and a durable two-piece hard box for storage. The creator, Scotty Roberts, brings a background in design, illustration, and writing, blending his artistic skills with a deep understanding of metaphysical concepts to craft this deck.

Although the Kickstarter campaign did not reach its funding goal in 2017, the project aimed to deliver a high-quality, artist-driven tarot experience. The emphasis on watercolor illustrations suggests a deck with a fluid, expressive aesthetic, intended to evoke a sense of mystery and depth in readings.

The artwork for 'The 78' is described as fully illustrated watercolor. This medium typically lends itself to soft transitions, vibrant yet blended colors, and a somewhat ethereal quality. Given the creator's background in fine art and his interest in the mysterious and metaphysical, the watercolor illustrations likely aim to evoke a sense of depth, emotion, and perhaps a dreamlike atmosphere, rather than sharp, defined lines. The choice of watercolor suggests a departure from more traditional or digitally precise art styles, favoring an organic and expressive approach.

This deck would appeal to tarot readers who appreciate fine art, particularly those drawn to watercolor aesthetics and expressive, non-traditional interpretations of tarot imagery. It is suitable for readers who value a deck created by an artist with a personal connection to metaphysical themes. Collectors looking for unique, artist-driven decks might also find it appealing.

This blend of academic skepticism and personal encounters with the unknown informs his approach to creating 'The 78' tarot deck.
