Terry & Merry Tarot

The Terry & Merry Tarot presents a unique dual-deck concept, offering two complete 78-card tarot decks within a single universe. Each deck is centered around a distinct character: Terry, depicted with a devil-like appearance and a warm, golden color scheme, represents bold action and direct guidance. Merry, characterized by a more angelic or ethereal presence and a cool, blue palette, offers soft insight and intuitive wisdom. This dual approach allows readers to choose a deck that aligns with their current mood or the type of guidance they seek.

The campaign highlights the stunning illustrations, which feature a minimalist, cute, and slightly cartoonish art style. The cards maintain the traditional 78-card structure of the Major and Minor Arcana, making them accessible to those familiar with standard tarot systems while offering a fresh visual interpretation. The packaging for each deck is designed to match its character's aesthetic, with Terry's box in gold and Merry's in blue, both adorned with celestial and geometric motifs.

This project successfully raised $8,314 from 70 backers, indicating a strong interest in its unique concept and charming artwork. The decks are designed to be used independently or in conjunction, providing a versatile tool for personal reflection and divination. The inclusion of plush keychains as part of the campaign suggests a focus on creating a collectible and engaging product beyond just the cards.

The artwork is characterized by a minimalist, digitally drawn style with clean lines and a limited color palette. Terry's deck features a warm, golden-yellow background with simple, expressive illustrations of the Terry character, who has small horns and a tail, often holding a trident. The card borders are ornate yet clean, complementing the simple central image. Merry's deck, in contrast, uses a cool, light blue background with similar minimalist illustrations of the Merry character, who appears more angelic or ethereal. Both characters are rendered in a cute, cartoonish style, making the traditional tarot archetypes approachable and gentle. The overall aesthetic is cohesive across both decks, differentiated primarily by color and the subtle design elements of each character.

This deck is ideal for tarot enthusiasts who appreciate cute, minimalist, and modern art styles. It particularly appeals to collectors interested in unique deck concepts, as it offers two distinct decks in one set. Readers seeking a gentle and approachable entry into tarot, or those who enjoy decks with strong character themes, will find Terry & Merry engaging. It's also suitable for those who prefer to choose their deck based on the energy they want to work with—bold action or soft insight.

The Terry & Merry Tarot was created by &Play, a team that envisioned a tarot universe guided by two distinct characters. Their inspiration was to offer a dual approach to tarot reading, allowing for both bold, direct guidance through Terry and soft, intuitive insight through Merry. The project successfully launched on Kickstarter in 2025, demonstrating community support for their unique concept of combining two complementary decks into a single, cohesive offering.
