Tarot of the Lantern Path

The Tarot of the Lantern Path is a 78-card tarot deck, hand-illustrated by Ruth Clark, who is known professionally as RootisTabootus. The deck draws its inspiration from themes of nature and femininity, aiming to offer a unique perspective on traditional tarot archetypes through this lens. Launched successfully on Kickstarter in 2021, the project garnered significant support from 512 backers, raising over $40,000.

Each deck comes with a printed guidebook, suggesting that the creator provides interpretations and insights specific to the deck's unique imagery and thematic focus. The emphasis on hand-illustration indicates a detailed and personal artistic approach, likely resulting in a deck with a distinctive aesthetic that reflects the artist's style. The combination of nature and femininity as core inspirations suggests a deck that explores growth, intuition, cycles, and the various facets of feminine energy within the natural world.

The deck's structure as a 78-card set confirms its adherence to the traditional tarot system, including both Major and Minor Arcana. This makes it accessible to experienced tarot readers while also providing a complete system for beginners. The inclusion of a guidebook further supports its use as a comprehensive tool for divination and self-reflection, guiding users through the artist's vision and the meanings embedded within the Lantern Path.

The artwork for the Tarot of the Lantern Path is described as hand-illustrated, drawing inspiration from nature and femininity. This suggests a style that likely incorporates organic forms, botanical elements, and possibly flowing lines or soft textures to convey its themes. Given the inspiration, the imagery would probably feature natural landscapes, flora, and figures or symbols representing feminine archetypes. The hand-illustrated nature implies a personal, possibly intricate or expressive artistic approach, distinguishing it from digital or photographic styles.

This deck is suitable for tarot readers who appreciate hand-illustrated artwork and are drawn to themes of nature and femininity. It will appeal to those seeking a deck with a gentle, intuitive, or empowering energy, particularly if they resonate with earth-based spirituality or goddess archetypes. Both beginners and experienced readers will find it accessible, especially with the included printed guidebook.
