Song of the Grandmothers Oracle Deck

The Song of the Grandmothers Oracle Deck is a 66-card oracle system, complemented by 6 blank customizable cards and a 174-page full-color guidebook. Conceived by Kara Simons, a former journalist and attorney, the deck draws inspiration from her deep spiritual connections and love for the natural world. Each card embodies the wisdom of a 'Grandmother' figure, represented by a botanical, animal, or elemental motif, offering guidance and insight.

The deck's core philosophy centers on fortifying wisdom, presenting messages that aim to be grounding and supportive. The inclusion of blank cards encourages users to personalize their deck, adding their own interpretations or Grandmothers that resonate with their individual spiritual journey. The accompanying guidebook provides detailed interpretations for each card, making the deck accessible for both seasoned oracle readers and those new to divination.

Produced with a lid and bottom box for storage, the deck was successfully funded on Kickstarter in 2022, raising $38,377 from 540 backers. The campaign offered various shipping options, including direct-from-China fulfillment and a slower, U.S.-based shipping route, indicating a global reach and consideration for different logistical needs. The project also included digital bonuses like a guided meditation and wallpaper, enhancing the overall experience.

The artwork for the Song of the Grandmothers Oracle Deck features a soft, painterly digital style with visible brushstrokes, giving it a hand-drawn feel. The color palette varies from card to card, reflecting the theme of each Grandmother: 'Grandmother Lavender' uses gentle pastels of lavender and peach, 'Grandmother Horse' employs muted grays and greens against a mountainous backdrop, and 'Grandmother Raven' is set against a dark, cosmic background with hints of nebula-like colors. The illustrations are evocative and intuitive, focusing on natural elements and creatures. The overall aesthetic is gentle and inviting, designed to foster a sense of calm and connection with nature.

This deck is ideal for individuals seeking gentle, nature-inspired spiritual guidance and fortifying wisdom. It will appeal to those who appreciate botanical, animal, and elemental themes in their divination practice. Readers who value intuitive artwork and a comprehensive guidebook will find this deck particularly engaging, especially those interested in personalizing their deck with blank cards. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced oracle users looking for a supportive and grounding tool.
