Pocket of Peers Tarot Deck

The Pocket of Peers Tarot Deck is an 80-card set created by Jamie Sawyer, known for other divination tools like Sawyer's Path Tarot and Sawyer's Lenormand. This deck distinguishes itself by featuring real individuals from the contemporary divination community as its "peers," integrating them into the classic tarot structure. The deck aims to offer a modern twist on traditional tarot, making it relatable to current practitioners while honoring established symbolism.

Launched successfully on Kickstarter in 2021, the campaign raised $59,545 from 607 backers, indicating strong community interest in its unique concept. The deck includes a comprehensive 186-page physical guidebook, alongside a digital version, catering to different preferences for accessing card meanings and interpretations. This dual format ensures that readers have ample resources to engage with the deck's specific nuances and the creator's vision.

Beyond the cards and guidebook, the Kickstarter campaign also offered a limited edition set of Pocket of Peers Tarot Tiles, providing an alternative or supplementary divination tool for collectors and enthusiasts. The emphasis on community and a modern approach suggests a deck designed for contemporary readers who appreciate a blend of tradition and fresh perspective.

The artwork for the Pocket of Peers Tarot Deck is described as featuring individuals from the divination community, suggesting a portrait-based or character-driven style. The concept implies a diverse representation of real people, likely rendered in a consistent artistic style that unifies the various personalities within the tarot framework. The "modern twist" mentioned in the description suggests that while the traditional tarot symbolism is maintained, the visual execution incorporates contemporary aesthetics, possibly through color palette, character design, or compositional choices. Without visual input, the specific artistic medium or detailed visual characteristics remain undescribed.

This deck is ideal for tarot readers interested in a contemporary approach to traditional tarot, particularly those who value community and diverse representation. It will appeal to collectors looking for unique decks with a distinct theme, as well as readers who enjoy connecting with the faces and stories of fellow divination practitioners. Both beginners and experienced readers can benefit from the comprehensive guidebook, which supports understanding the deck's modern interpretations.
