PhantasMeow's Tarot deck

The CATton Candy Nightmare Tarot deck is a 78-card set created by artist Saturn of PhantasMeow. This deck merges the artist's passion for the occult, felines, and a distinctive 'cotton candy' color palette, resulting in a unique visual experience. Each of the 78 illustrations was individually drawn digitally, depicting cats in various states of life and decay, offering a blend of whimsical and dark imagery.

Launched successfully on Kickstarter in 2019, the project aimed to bring these completed illustrations to life as a full tarot deck. The campaign emphasized the readiness of the artwork, ensuring a swift distribution post-funding. The deck is designed to appeal to those who appreciate both the majesty of cats and the thrill of occult themes, presented through a lens of vibrant, yet sometimes eerie, fantasy.

Accompanying the physical deck is a downloadable PDF tarot guide, created in collaboration with Antifragile Tarot. This guide provides information about each card and includes various spreads, making the deck accessible for both new and experienced readers. The overall concept positions the CATton Candy Nightmare deck as a unique tool for divination, blending a playful aesthetic with deeper, more mysterious undertones.

The artwork is digitally drawn, characterized by a vibrant, almost neon color palette that the creator describes as 'cotton candy.' This includes electric blues, hot pinks, and deep purples, often set against dark backgrounds, creating a high-contrast, glowing effect. The style incorporates elements of fantasy and macabre, with cat figures that range from ethereal and glowing to skeletal or decaying, as seen in the 'life and decay' theme. The lines are clean and precise, typical of digital illustration, and there's a strong sense of dynamic movement in the figures, such as the glowing cat on 'The Star' card. The card backs feature a dark, stylized cat skull within a geometric, crescent moon motif, reinforcing the occult and slightly gothic aesthetic.

This deck is ideal for tarot readers and collectors who are drawn to unique, gothic, or macabre aesthetics, particularly those with an affinity for cats. It appeals to individuals seeking a deck that blends dark themes with a vibrant, almost psychedelic color scheme. Readers interested in exploring the duality of life and decay, or those who appreciate digitally illustrated, fantasy-driven artwork, will find this deck engaging. It's suitable for both beginners, with its accompanying PDF guide, and experienced readers looking for a visually distinctive and thematically rich deck.

Saturn, the artist behind PhantasMeow, developed the CATton Candy Nightmare Tarot deck from a deep passion for the occult, felines, and a distinctive 'cotton candy' color palette. The project began with a year of dedicated design and detailing, culminating in 78 fully completed digital illustrations. Driven by positive feedback from individuals and businesses, Saturn launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing, packaging, and shipping, successfully raising over $10,000 to bring this unique vision to the tarot community.
