perfectTrine - playing cards

The perfectTrine playing cards offer a unique blend of traditional card play with an astrological and tarot-inspired aesthetic. Designed by whatsawhosit, this deck was intended to be printed by Expert Playing Card Company (EPCC) on their Classic card stock, known for its quality and handling. The campaign, launched in 2019, aimed to bring a luxurious feel to a standard playing card deck through its design and production.

The deck's core concept revolves around an astrological theme, subtly integrating cosmic elements into the card art. While primarily a playing card deck, it includes a "twist of tarot," suggesting that some imagery or symbolism might draw from tarot archetypes, offering an additional layer of meaning for those inclined to use it for more than just games. The blue and gold color scheme, combined with metallic ink and a hot foil stamped tuck box, emphasizes a premium and elegant presentation.

The production details, such as printing by EPCC and fulfillment by Gambler's Warehouse, indicate a commitment to high-quality materials and professional distribution. Although the Kickstarter campaign did not reach its funding goal, the vision for perfectTrine was to create a collectible and functional deck that appeals to enthusiasts of both playing cards and esoteric themes, providing a distinctive experience whether for a game of poker or a moment of reflection.

The artwork for perfectTrine features a sophisticated, intricate design centered around astrological and celestial motifs. The dominant color palette is a rich, deep blue contrasted with metallic gold, creating an elegant and somewhat mystical visual. The image provided showcases a circular design, reminiscent of an astrological chart or mandala, with concentric rings of text and symbols. These rings clearly display zodiac signs (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc.), planetary symbols (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, etc.), and their corresponding names, all rendered in a stylized, almost calligraphic font. The outermost ring appears to have sunburst-like rays emanating from the center, enhancing the celestial theme. The overall aesthetic is detailed and precise, suggesting a digital illustration approach that mimics traditional engraving or printing techniques, suitable for metallic ink application.

This deck is ideal for playing card collectors who appreciate unique, themed designs and high-quality production. It also appeals to individuals with an interest in astrology, tarot, or esoteric symbolism, offering a subtle integration of these themes into a functional playing card format. Readers who enjoy decks with a luxurious aesthetic and a touch of cosmic inspiration will find this deck particularly engaging, whether for casual games or as a display piece.

The creator, whatsawhosit, describes their philosophy as "Life is the art of life. Teaching learning Teaching. Always weaving what we learn into the fabric of our lives." This suggests a creative process rooted in continuous growth and integration of knowledge. The perfectTrine deck appears to be an expression of this philosophy, blending the structured world of playing cards with the symbolic depth of astrology and tarot, reflecting a desire to weave diverse elements into a cohesive and meaningful product.
