Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Minchiate Tarot deck?

The Minchiate Tarot is an expanded tarot system that originated in Florence during the Renaissance. Unlike the standard 78-card tarot, Minchiate decks typically contain 97 cards, featuring additional Major Arcana cards that often include the virtues, elements, and zodiac signs. This makes it a more complex and historically distinct system.

How many cards are in these Minchiate Tarot decks?

While the exact card count for these specific editions is not specified, traditional Minchiate decks typically consist of 97 cards, which is a significant expansion from the standard 78-card tarot system. These decks by Amparo Aguirre are based on this historical Minchiate tradition.

What does 'Bomarzo energy' refer to in the deck's inspiration?

The 'Bomarzo energy' likely refers to the Sacro Bosco, also known as the Park of the Monsters, located in Bomarzo, Italy. This 16th-century monumental complex features grotesque and enigmatic sculptures carved from bedrock, suggesting an inspiration rooted in Renaissance-era Italian art, mythology, and a sense of the fantastical or mysterious.
