Divine Diversity 2 Tarot Deck

The Divine Diversity 2 Tarot Deck, created by acclaimed comic artist and reader Joe Phillips, is an 80-card deck designed for daily use. This second iteration of the Divine Diversity series continues Phillips's mission to represent diverse individuals in everyday roles, moving beyond heavily sexualized imagery to portray a world of unconditional love and self-acceptance. The deck features a full 78-card tarot structure, with two additional cards, and is presented in a convenient, smaller size for ease of handling during readings.

Phillips, known for his work with Marvel, DC Comics, and other major publishers, brings his distinctive comic art style to the tarot. The deck aims to be both holistic and intuitive, providing a fresh perspective on traditional tarot archetypes through its inclusive imagery. Each deck includes a full-color, easy-to-read booklet and is housed in a sturdy cardboard clamshell box, making it a durable and accessible tool for both new and experienced readers.

The campaign successfully raised over $31,000 from 527 backers, indicating a strong community interest in Phillips's vision of diversity within the tarot space. The deck's focus on representation and its creator's background in mainstream comics offer a unique blend of pop culture and spiritual practice, appealing to a broad audience seeking a modern and inclusive tarot experience.

The artwork is characterized by a vibrant, digitally rendered comic book style, featuring bold outlines and rich, saturated colors. Figures are diverse in ethnicity and body type, depicted with a sense of grace and strength, reflecting the creator's intent to showcase a world of self-acceptance and unconditional love. The imagery, as seen in cards like The Empress, The Emperor, The Fool, The Hierophant, and The Priestess, reimagines traditional tarot archetypes with a contemporary and inclusive sensibility. The card backs feature an elegant, stylized design with stars and flowing lines in shades of purple and blue, suggesting a celestial or mystical theme that complements the diverse figures on the card faces.

This deck is ideal for tarot readers who appreciate comic book art and seek a modern, inclusive, and diverse representation in their spiritual tools. It will appeal to those interested in LGBTQ+ themes and self-acceptance, given the creator's background and mission. Both beginners and experienced readers will find the deck approachable due to its clear imagery and convenient size, especially those looking for a deck that reflects a broader spectrum of human experience.

Joe Phillips is an American comic artist and animated filmmaker with a prolific career spanning Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse, and more. Beyond mainstream comics, Phillips has dedicated much of his artistic focus to creating art for the gay community, aiming to depict individuals in everyday roles rather than solely sexualized imagery. This mission led him to create the "JoeBoys" — characters living in a world of unconditional love and self-acceptance, which he has shared through books and calendars for over two decades. The Divine Diversity 2 Tarot Deck is a continuation of this vision, blending his extensive artistic experience with his passion for inclusive representation.
