Coastal Curiosities Oracle Deck

The Coastal Curiosities Oracle Deck is a 44-card set created by collage artist Lennox Rees, drawing inspiration from the unique environment and collected treasures of the Pacific Northwest. Launched successfully on Kickstarter in 2021, the deck invites users into miniature worlds composed of natural elements, vintage illustrations, and whimsical objects. Each card is designed to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection, reflecting the magic and power of highly inspired creativity.

The deck's imagery is rooted in the aesthetic of the Oregon coast, combining botanical and animal motifs with everyday curiosities. The cards are intended to serve as prompts for intuition and reflection, offering guidance through their evocative visual narratives rather than prescriptive meanings. The accompanying full-color saddle-sewn booklet provides further insight into each card's message, making the deck accessible for both new and experienced oracle readers.

Physically, the deck is presented in a rigid two-part box, ensuring durability and a premium feel. The artwork's detailed collage style and muted yet distinct color palette create a cohesive and immersive experience. This deck is positioned as a tool for personal exploration, connecting users to the natural world and the hidden stories within collected objects.

The artwork is a distinctive blend of collage and digital manipulation, utilizing vintage-style illustrations of flora, fauna, and objects. The color palette is generally muted, featuring earthy tones, soft blues, and greens, with occasional pops of brighter color like the yellow moon or orange accents. Each card is a carefully composed miniature scene, often featuring a central element such as a shovel entwined with a snake and pinecones, a sleeping dog on an ornate chair, or a crab atop green crystals. The backgrounds often have subtle patterns, adding texture and depth. The overall aesthetic is whimsical and slightly surreal, with a strong sense of nostalgia and natural wonder.

This deck is ideal for oracle readers who appreciate collage art, natural themes, and a whimsical, slightly vintage aesthetic. It will appeal to those interested in the folklore and natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, as well as collectors of unique, artist-made decks. Readers who prefer intuitive guidance over strict interpretations will find its evocative imagery particularly engaging.
